The Best Of Both Worlds
Acting has been and I can say will always be the activity that I enjoy the most. If I had to describe my favorite place in the world, I would automatically pick the stage. There is something magical about it that I cannot resist.
What I love the most about acting is the fact that you get to incarnate a whole new person. You get to be someone else for a while. It’s not you on stage but the character you are playing. In acting, you can be whatever, whoever there is no limit. You may choose to be someone not so different from you or someone you’ve always wished to be. You get to be the ones you would probably never be.
One of the great advantages of acting is that it is a passage way of meeting new people; you get to forms new bonds. As an actor, you work with many people, directors, writers, producer, as well as your co-actors. Actors work in a team, many people work together to make a production pointing at perfection. You also meet their characters which can be totally different from the person performing and thus meet the people you would probably never get to meet in real life. Being an actor, place you in this double universe, fiction versus reality. It’s a sensation that always fascinated me. In the actor’s world, dream and reality all blend together. A whole new world, a world you are manipulating yourself.
As an actor you should be able to “provide an emotional response in the dialogue when appropriate, and actually enter into the part so that the character the actor is playing becomes real and authentic”. The better you merge into your character the more credulity you get from the audience and the more real is your fictitious character. Your audience get confuse with situation you are a master of: the blend of veracity and illusion.
Your way of acting determines the audience’s reaction. So many things can be reflected through acting, you can send a message, you can scare the audience, make them feel sad, angry, and happy. It all depends on the expression you and your co-workers reflect. It also relies on your ability to persuade your spectators.
“Actors, unless they have reached a level of fame, often have part or full time jobs in addition to their acting careers.” It is a very competitive job. And actors would often need a back up job to make up for the needs that acting would not be able to fulfill alone.
Everything has its down sides and acting is usually very hard work specially when making it a profession. But the pleasure you get from it is not redeemable for anything in the world. The feelings of accomplishment from the crowd’s appreciation, the smile on the public’s face is precious. There is no such happiness to be the center of the attention, the object of admiration of an amazed audience. Once you have the determination, that love and passion to give this beautiful art a shot you would not regret a second of it, not even the struggle. If you do something you love, you’ll never have to work a single day in your life. If acting is your thing, if you are in love with it as I am, you would hardly notice the extra push you have to give.
